The event, held November 14, 2009 raised over $15,000. Rick "topped up" to raise that figure to $16,000 and
is still raising monies for this cause.
 



Rick Johnson's Charity Golf Tournament

Councillor Rick Johnson hosted his annual charity golf tournament in mid-September at the beautiful Cherry Downs Golf Course. It was an absolutely beautiful day and the course was in impeccable shape. Volunteers worked hard all day and dinner was superb. Many thanks from Rick & Susan Johnson to all who participated and sponsored the tournament. the funds raised will, as always, go to worthwhile causes in the community!

Pickering Heat Peewee 'A' takes the silver medal

Ontario Amateur Softball Association Provincial 'A' Peewee Boys Champion Tournament

Pickering hosted the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Provincial 'A' Peewee Boys Championship Tournament last month. The top teams from across Ontario converged on Pickering at Kinsmen Park. Opening ceremonies included the
Pickering Legion colour guard and bag piper, a local national anthem singer, Rick Johnston with a welcome message from City of Pickering, ex-Toronto Blue Jays' Rob Butler, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch and a parade of teams led by local Pickering minor softball players.
Pickering Heat were the silver medal finalists. Stouville Store took the gold. Congratulations to our Pickering Heat Peewee 'A' boys team.

Top teams in Ontario to converge at Kinsmen Park

Pickering is hosting the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Provincial ‘A’ Peewee Boys Championship Tournament later this month.

The top teams from across Ontario will be converging on August 15-16 at Kinsmen Park.

Opening ceremonies are Saturday at 10 a.m.

With that, the club is currently hoping to feature the Pickering Legion colour guard and bag piper, and they also have hopes of a local national anthem singer, Rick Johnson with a welcome message from City of Pickering. ex-Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Rob Butler with the ceremonial first pitch and a parade of teams led by local Pickering minor softball players.

The Pickering Heat will. play its first game on the Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
